“True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied.” — Aadil Palkhivala
Whether you are a full-fledged yogi, a beginner, or you just like how comfortable the clothes feel, it's safe to say that most everyone knows at least one major brand, or at least owns a pair of yoga pants. While men and women alike practice yoga....unfortunately most companies target their demographic towards women. This leaves a huge disparity in those who practice yoga, and are looking for new yoga attire. This is a problem in itself. These days you can walk out of your house and point out at least one person running errands in their yoga pants....because let's face it....they are comfortable as $%^& and they aren't plain and boring anymore. In fact, the more popular they become, the styles have become much trendier.
Unfortunately, that means there are a lot of companies out there that capitalize off this "trendiness" as well. However.....I beg of you. Don't let that price tag fool you. Just because you are paying $100 for those yoga pants, it doesn't mean that they are better than Sally's pants from 5 o'clock Vinyasa at the studio downtown. To be honest, that just makes you a victim of one of the many companies out there that charge way too much in the name of fashion.
That being said....for the general consumer, and excited new yogi ready to go to their first class, it's hard not to feel like purchasing quality clothing is something unattainable and unreachable. Not only in price point, but in fit and style. When practicing the first time, honoring your body where it is at that moment, should be the only thing you are focusing on.
....not pulling up your pants.....not tugging at your shirt.....and lastly, not worrying if when going into downward dog, everyone can see your undies. Not to call any brands out.....but one yoga brand is NOTORIOUS for being overtly sheer when the material is stretched. When approached with how to solve this, the CEO simply remarked that their attire was meant to be worn on thinner frames....and that if the consumer was of "proper size," the material wouldn't be see through.
How may I ask, can you be in the present, if you are worrying about your "fat" stretching your clothing into sheer nothingness, and whether or not you will have enough money for your car note that's due at the end of the month....because guess what? You spent half of it on this sassy yoga outfit.
What if I told you that you don't have to be concerned with any of that nonsense anymore? Like all other lines under the ROCKDEEP INC. umbrella, quality, style, and a reasonable price point, are all priorities. You don't have to sacrifice one for the other. You can have your cake, eat it, then practice yoga.
With plenty of styles to choose from, and money left over in your pocket....you can finally focus on what you signed up for those studio classes for in the first place. So whether you are experienced in your practice and can fold yourself in half.....or you are a beginner whose only mastered pose is Savasana......we can guarantee that you will find what you are looking for. If you don't....give us a shout! We'd love to hear from yogis of all levels, and what they'd like to see.
When making the choice of which brand to choose, don't stress! I will leave you with a few things that I try to remind myself of daily....
Breathe....Open Your Heart.....and Listen to Your Body.
